Importance of scholarships
We all are aware of the monetary value of scholarships and aside from that its pretty hard to see much of any other value. I can however see the pros to having one. In the long run this translates to you owing less money after you graduate which is obviously a huge benefit. Also this means that you can allow yourself a little leisure money for whatever you desire....so, that's nice.

REFLECTION
I have taken care of all of my responsibilities as it pertains to my admission into the university of my choice. I am where I need to be as far as academics are concerned. The colleges that I applied to were well suited for me in location and just in that they could provide, given that fact that I was granted acceptance into to all that I applied to. I am happy with my decision and believe that I will be able to transcend in such an environment.

College Degrees...INDIA
The college degree's value grows and exponential amount everyday. They are a confirmation that you are educated and able to practice in whatever field that you are entering. Aside from this you'll get paid even more money because you have a degree in that field. i.e If you have two police officers on the same level, working for the same area and bla bla bla, and one has a degree and the other is without....The man with the degree is going to be paid an exponentially greater amount of money simply because he has a piece of paper confirming that he participated in getting a higher education and all of the time, sweat and sleepless nights that he endured to attain such a highly esteemed state.
In comparison to the education system in India...They are not as successful in their attempts with education simply because they are not as privileged as us. Many of the children need to work to live and for this reason they cannot enforce "necessary" education. In addition to this, 25% of the teachers don't show up on a regular basis so there in lies another problem. with all of this information i have come to the much agreed upon conclusion that our education sys/ is far more advanced and therefore better.

FuTst influential leader in myhelping e would have to be Christ. Everything He did in Hiwithout practiceown here on earth was for the bettering of others. He lived everyday to the fullest. Played no games. People spit on His face, called Him crazy and "punished" Him for his beliefs. The story really is beautiful. People these days are ready to fight if you accidentally step on their Jordans. Oh, and don't even try talking about them behind their back, who knows what they'll do. Christ really got "it" doing all things good, all the time. I mean the things that he endured, a regular person would presume He would have to be crazy to forgive those people and keep it moving but nevertheless He kept it moving.
We are not robots, we are humans, very dynamic creatures. We don't simply think and do we have feelings and emotions. We see, we feel, we are able to think and make decisions on our own, free moral agents thus setting us apart from the other creatures of this land, that is what ultimately makes us different. I do believe that those are the things that we live for, it is proven, in some very extreme examples but yes we live for beauty, romance and love. These are the things in life that give us that, highly aspired, fulfillment in life. Thus why someone could have their dream job and have all the material things in this world that they want and after the newness and excitement is gone the feeling of emptiness creeps in....and then all the sudden they fall in love and they are just on top of the world. We thrive on love, beauty and romance as humans. If this weren't so vanity and the appreciation of beauty would seize to fascinate us. As far as the second question goes I have no theory as to why people still entertain themselves with poetry. I believe that maybe were i to participate in such readings I would have a say one way or the other and for my ignorance on the subject at hand I apologize.
I agree with him wholeheartedly. My mother has always taught me that perspective is everything. when you learn to look at things from different perspectives you can further understand everything. It brings a new light to everything and you can further understand. It is also one of the keys to getting further in life. I think a great example was last week. When our teacher came to us to express her feelings of hurtful bombardment and very few were able to see that for what it truely was due to THEIR own feelings. They simply saw it as a personal problem and initially refused to see it any other way. Everyone was so upset because they were only looking through their own eyes. We eventually tied that knot and moved on to another but I doubt that many in that room on thursday understood consciously that by the end of the class They had participated in looking at a different perspective or point of view

"the most useful asset of a person is not a head full of knowledge but a heart full of love, with ears open to listen, and hands willing to help" I Strive to live this every day helping whoever I can and loving every one. I believe these things are very important in the world that we live in I think a lot of it is dying off. These traits aren't exactly the easiest to follow and if I could be that bright light for someone, if I can make someones day that makes me happy and that makes them happy and I believe that those are all great things that you never die no matter what. to love everyone is the most important one to me. I think that love is the reason why great things happen, I mean yes there are a few crazy people out there who don't really understand love or use it as an excuse to do heinous crimes, but I believe that love makes the world go around and love is why people is so awesome to each other. I really believe love is a cure all and what kind of person would I be if I said that without practice?
Thursday 😉
Mr. Keaton can not be blamed for Neil's decision to end his life. Mr. Keaton only helped Neil to emphasize how crappy Neil's life was indirectly through lessons. Even that however is debatable. Suicide is a choice that one man makes for himself, as is smoking, sleeping around or making all A's. NO ONE can take responsibility for that death. I believe that anyone who would commit such an action, at such a young age, already had it in him.
The bravest of the boys, I believe was Neil, he pushed through and made some really bold decisions to get what he wanted and he reached them, not long term but he did enjoy a rather short lived victory. Funny thing is that i also think he was the coward in it all. Yes, he pushed hard but after he had been shot down by his father, he saw no way out to live his dreams and he made the decision to end it all. Kudos (I think that is how you spell it) to him though, he had quite the dramatic exit.
I do not recall this part of the movie however I will say that sometimes adults and people in general when wanting to urge someone to do something. that may not be supported by others, they do little things. Little things like looking the other way or tell you things without "telling you." It is simply a method of doing things without getting your hands dirty.

Central THEME!!!!
A theme that stood out to me kind of goes long with a quote from Dr. Seuss " Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" Throughout this film Mr. Keaton is pushing the boys to be themselves and all of them selves. A perfect example would be in the scene placed in the classroom when Todd was put in front of the class to present his original poetry. He was very shy, almost to the point of a meltdown but Mr. Keaton told him to disregard the stares, laughing and ridicule. In the end it made them all better....well all but Neil. Knox doesn't care how the people in the class laughed at him when he read his poem, he continued and kept the goal in mind. And Charlie, the boys thought his nickname was ridiculous but he didn't care because that is what he wanted and so he sought after it wholeheartedly. In the end these boys got the message loud and clear.

Dead Poets +
Todd changes the most throughout the film, in the beginning we see him as a timid young lad. He doesn't speak much and compared to the other boys he has a hair that looks extra ummmm different. In the middle he becomes more open to opening up and being himself around his friends and by the end he is the himself all the way.
Charlie doesn't change throughout the play he always tried to be different. When it was expected for him to left he goes right and vis versa.
Mr. Keaton is like a leader throughout the movie. He doesn't push his ideas on anyone he is simply has a big influence on the boys during his time at the prison.....school, thing.
Todd's fear was speaking up and voicing his opinion, not being someones door mat to walk all over but taking a stand for himself. He does overcome his fear and we all applaud him for his glorious moment in the last scene when Mr. Keaton is walking out of the room, forever.
Neil has this fear of his father and that he wont ever be able to pursue his dream and also he felt as if he could not talk to his father about his desire to act. He has a short break and makes a run for it, forging his fathers signature allowing him to participate in the play and once caught he kills himself. I whole, I would say that he found a loop hole around his fear and tells his dad but then shortly kills himself. I'd like to say he overcame in a way.
Knox was all girl shy and didn't want to pursue his love interest due to fear of rejection, but towards the end he comes to grips and decides that he doesn't care, as long as he did his part and told her. He tells her and that proves to be enough of a victory for him.
Todd never becomes "the norm" throughout....until the end. After all the fight that he had done not to conform to things that he didn't agree with and what not. He was constantly doing the opposite of what we thought he would, remaining loyal...in the end he becomes a snake and lies down in fear and for that i would say that he ultimately failed.

The Last Mona Lisa
- Betty's marriage to Spencer – do you think she was happy? Note her mother's refusal to let her stay with her. Why?
- I believe that during that time period the women were simply filling roles of housewives. Betty was a part of a traditional family, therefore she married and kept her mouth shut. She asked no questions and caused no havoc. Her "happiness" wasn't a matter that "deserved" attention. I would also say, given the divorce, that she wasn't happy. Especially since she knew the way people would look at her and she still pursued it. Her mother couldn't help her. She must leave her home and cling to her new one. If her mother had of let her in she would enable her to being a weak wife. Making it harder on her eventually.
- Katherine Watson was said to be "subversive". What is your understanding of this term?
- Subversive is defined as seeking or intended to subvert an established system or institution, with syn. of disruptive and trouble-making. By definition I believe that this word adequately describes the actions as well as teachings of Katherine. She was disrupting a system that was implemented and though it may not have been the most well thought out system it was followed by society. She just came in a tore that system into pieces causing people, women, to divert. And the school as well as many other conformist saw this as a problem.

Progressive Teaching And What Not
I agree with the exert shown to us on Friday to an extent. Facts are vital and
that is what we base everything off of, operative word being BASE. We are
\ not mindless slaves, we are free moral agents, able to think and dream and
sometimes that is what makes the world go round. Facts might make us more
efficient humans but our creativity, imagination and out of the box thinking
is what makes us humans. It is what makes us different, and awesome. Our
ability to mix facts with creativity and our personal beliefs that makes amazing
products in this world that we use everyday and this idea of "progressive"
teaching makes the world a better place.

I liked the theme of pushing out of the box. The idea that these women weren't just made to be mindless wives. That they could be wives and lawyers or whatever they wanted to be. This theme was significant to me because I see this all day everyday and not just with women. No one wants to be themselves anymore, it is as if everyone is abiding by some type of starter kit and it makes me sad. People have come to me and asked if I thought that they should wear something and I, realizing we all like different things respond with " do what YOU wanna do." And more often then not they say that they'd rather not. People prefer to succumb to conformity.

Mona
I believe it is going to be the classic tale of the educator becoming something more for the students. Becoming an inspirational figure in their lives. Teaching them that conformity isn't the answer. She is empowering her students to become contributors to society in some other form other than birthing children. She is going to be like a New Age mother I believe, our definition of a mother. To be more than a trophy but to be what THEY want to be.

HSVCE
Duh High school test will be easier due to reviews, resources, the questions that literally tell you the answer. College wont be the same...it'll be hard and there wont always be prep or "hey write this down notes..." And for those of you who cheat, cheating will be way harder. These are things that we all know whether we found out via stories or whatever. You'll probably want to study all the time and remember time management is key.
